Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature at The University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington she was named general correspondent for NBC News two year later. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy reports over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform as well as the Iran Contra saga. Mitchell traveled frequently together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
